The Dressmaker’s Cottage Embroidery Pattern

The design is based on the Dressmaker’s Cottage book front cover and adapted for embroidering. You can download a printable PDF here.

 

Thread: use one or two strands of embroidery floss.

This design was sewn on white cotton fabric.

Hoop size: seven inches.

Trace the pattern on to the fabric. See how De-ann traces her patterns on to fabric.

Stitch the cottage roof, main outline, windows, curtains and door.
Then stitch the greenery and flowers.

Roof
Light grey — stem stitch.

Walls
Warm grey — outline stitch.

Windows
Warm grey — stem stitch.

Curtains
Pink — back stitch.
Blue — back stitch.

Door
Light grey – stem stitch & French knot.

Greenery
Light green – back stitch & single stitch.

Flowers
Mid blue, pale blue, pink, lilac and yellow.
Lazy daisy stitch (petals)
French knots (flower centres & flower scatter).
Single stitch
