The robin draught excluder is available as a cut and sew pattern from my fabric collection. It’s included along with the Sewing Bee & Afternoon Tea Cottage sewing machine cover and other small items on a yard of fabric.
The excluder measures 10 inches (26cm) x 36 inches (92cm). The six robins are different colours and are printed on a background of bluebell flowers on white. The one featured here is made from cotton.
How to make the draught excluder
You will need:
The robin/bluebell fabric piece – 10 inches (26cm) x 36 inches (92cm).
A backing piece of fabric the same size. (I used plain white cotton).
Filler for stuffing the excluder.
Method:
Sew the two pieces of fabric right sides together leaving a 3 inch (8cm) gap for turning. Trim excess fabric from the corners.
Turn right sides out.
Fill the excluder with the stuffing.
Sew the gap shut using a ladder stitch or other closing stitch.
Use Your Own Fabric
Note: You could also use your own fabric to create a robin draught excluder 10 inches (26cm) x 36 inches (92cm). Use the above method for sewing and filling. The robin template is included in the quilt block/template section.
