The Sewing Machine brooch sparkles with gold yarn and aquamarine diamante. The brooch measures approximately 2 3/4 inches wide (7cm) x 2 1/8 inches high (5.5cm).
You will need:
Metallic gold yarn.
1 piece of white felt 3 inches (7.5cm) x 3 inches (7.5cm).
1 piece of cream felt 3 inches (7.5cm) x 3 inches (7.5cm).
White thread.
Diamante in silver and gold coloured setting.
Aquamarine colour diamante.
Brooch finding (brooch pin).
Sewing machine template. (Templates for the brooch/appliqué designs are also included here as a pdf document. When printed on to an A4 sheet of paper all of the patterns are the correct size).
Method:
Use the sewing machine template to draw the outline of the pattern on to one of the pieces of white felt. Sew around the outline and lettering details with the gold yarn. Use small back stitches or similar embroidery stitches.
Sew the diamante on.
Trim around the edges of the sewing machine cutting away the excess felt. (Leave a small edging of felt).
Cut the cream felt to fit (same size as the front of the brooch). Sew this on to the back of the brooch. Use small stitches near the edges of the felt.
Attach the finding (the brooch pin) to the back of the brooch (sew or glue it on depending on what type you use).
And that’s the brooch complete.
