Use yarn that knits up into a Fair Isle style design to make a cowl.
When finished the cowl measures approximately 26 inches (66cm) x 16 inches (41cm).
You will need:
1 100g ball of double knit yarn that knits up into a Fair Isle style design.
(As an alternative, you could use a self–striping yarn).
Knitting needles size 6mm (UK 4. US 10).
Method:
Cast on 60 stitches.
Knit 1 row, purl 1 row (stocking stitch). Repeat this until the work measures 26 inches (66cm).
Bind off. (Leave a length of the yarn attached so that you can use it to sew the seam together).
Sew the seam:
With right sides together fold the rectangle in two. Use a knitters needle and the yarn to sew the seam. Use a mattress stitch or other similar stitch to join the seam.
Secure the finished stitching and then weave the ends of the yarn into the cowl (slip the needle with the yarn through a few stitches to hide the end of the yarn).
Turn the cowl right sides out.
